840,000 tons of stone, I am also informed by Mr. Eager,

the agent of Mesars. Showan Tones here that his contractor

is now able to supply him with all the stone he wants at favourable rates, and that no complaint has been made of

differential treatment in the matter of taxation.

The only outstanding matter with regard to this

question therefore is the Green Island Company's Claim

for $512,378. In this connection I have the honour to

refer you to my despatch of April 17th and to add that,

in the present state of the finances of the Province,

there is in my opinion less prospect than ever of obtaining any satisfaction from the provincial authorities

in respect of this clain.
